We planned the shower based on the theme of the Central Perk coffee shop in Friends. Which means, all the drinks and food needed to be things that would be sold in a coffee shop. We offered coffee, tea, orange juice, lemon water, and cucumber water to drink and we put out a bunch of coffee mugs and cute tea cups to drink out of.
We had mini scones, lemon cookies, coffee cake, and fruit parfaits to eat. For the parfaits there were strawberries, peaches, raspberries, granola, and blueberries for topping light and fit plain yogurt. We were also going to have mini quiches but we forgot to put them out! Oops! On top of the coffee cake we had a small orange dollhouse couch that resembled the couch from the show but I didn't get a picture of the coffee cake after it came out of the oven. The coffee cake was a huge hit though!
On the food table we used yellow plates and bowls to coordinate with the yellow in the central perk sign as well as the frame Monica has on her door in the show. We also hung yellow Pom Pom garland over the food table and above one of the couches where guests sat and had fresh flowers out like in the episode where Rachel has a babyshower.
We used several central perk logo signs throughout the room.
The logo was even on the favors. We put chocolate covered coffee beans in tiny yellow to go boxes and glued on the logo. We were also going to have cute little thank you labels on them that said "thanks for be-an here" but we ran out of time.
We put a central perk logo on a chalkboard and hung it on the front door. The baby sock clothesline was a great addition because in the episode where Rachel has a babyshower, there is a clothesline of girl clothes hanging on the door. Our friend is having a boy so fancy girl clothes were out of the question but how cute are tiny blue socks.
We put a chalkboard in the front of the house so guests would know where the shower was being held. The chalkboard was written on to look as if the shower was an episode on Friends.
We played several games such as guess how many peanuts are in the jar. Ivanna called her baby peanut before she named him so what could be more appropriate than whole peanuts. We measured lengths of twine to guess how big mommy's belly is and we played a guess how well you know mommy game. We also played a Friends trivia game with 20 abcd questions. The trivia game was tough for guests who had never seen the show but we tried to incorporate easy and hard questions. The ultrasound image in the frame was our guest sign in where guests could sign on the matting around the image. Lastly, we laid bibs out on the table in the living room for guests to decorate for baby peanut.
There were different prizes for the games. One was a candle with coffee beans around it, another was a basket with bath items, and the others were coffee cups with manicure sets and nail polish in them.
The mom to be had a great time as did all of the guests. This was such a fun theme to use for a babyshower! We had so many ideas, I wish we could've done even more to make it feel like the central perk coffee shop from Friends but everyone loved this babyshower!
